Right2Write
February 2023-January 2024: Connecting students through literature despite socioeconomic differences and establishing a community of young writers.
Running from February 2023 to January 2024, Right2Write was envisioned as a bridge between students from varied socioeconomic backgrounds, using the transformative power of writing and literature to promote both expression and equity. In collaboration with the Salaam Baalak Foundation and Pathways School Noida, the programme brought together children aged 7 to 17 for a series of creative-writing workshops designed to nurture imagination, develop literacy skills, and build confidence in their authorial voices.
Beyond improving technical writing, the workshops created safe spaces where students could share personal stories, explore diverse perspectives, and discover the value of their own narratives. This exchange not only strengthened language and communication skills but also deepened empathy across backgrounds, fostering inclusivity through education.
A defining highlight of the programme was the opportunity for participants to become published authors in an upcoming digital anthology, giving voice to students who might otherwise have remained unheard. This publication represents more than just a collection of stories—it symbolizes recognition, empowerment, and the idea that every child’s perspective has worth.
By combining skill-building with authentic platforms for expression, Right2Write demonstrated how education in the arts can expand opportunity, break barriers, and inspire young learners to imagine new possibilities for themselves and their communities.
